utee inchie pear magnets

Inchie 7

Today's utee Inchie Pear magnets post encases Inchies in small, clear wafers to create durable magnets.  I've wanted to encapsulate treasured Inchies in a functional manner, yet still be able to touch and handle the Inchies on a whim.  It is featured on the Inchie INKling blog.

The Inchie INKling blog is part of Ellen Hutson's collection of highly informative places to go for inspiration and ideas.  Best wishes for a fabulous Monday and a wonderful week!

sweet purple 'shrooms

Mushroom 6

With everything here in NJ so icy, bitterly cold and kinda blah, purple is a sure-fire way to brighten up the day!  I'm playing with Inchie Arts' blue/lavender Inchie Notes - 3-1/2" square notecards that I've altered:

Mushroom 1

Using a large Nestabilities scallop rectangle die I punched out two lavender Inchie Notes.  I taped the Nestie down first, then the notecard (at the fold), to hold them in place while I ran them through a Cuttlebug.

Mushroom 2

The above picture shows the before and after - scallops make happy cards - hee...

Mushroom 3

Lockhart Stamp Company's new IB Mushroom image was stamped onto white Inchie Squares - premium matboard squares.  Inchie Squares are archival and a nice thickness, creating an instant embellishment with dimension.  Using Copic markers the mushroom image was colored then matted with a 1-1/4" square of Memory Box Lavender cardstock (matches the Inchie Note too).

Mushroom 4

Mushrooms were stamped on the envelope outsides and card insides using Adirondack Cool Peri.  Tied a length of Beaux Regards Petite Pompette and stamped interior verse (A Muse) with black ink.

Mushroom 5

A two-inch square mat using 6x6 Basic Grey Eva was matted with Memory Box Concord Grape (snippets were used on the card interior).  This added even more springtime happiness to these cards - I don't think I've ever anticipated spring so much as right now!

Off to put more salt/ice melter on the steps and driveway... Snow ShovelerHappy Inchie Thursday!

peas are the one

 Peas 3

Today's post features two brand new images from Lockhart Stamp Company - the adorable valentine peas and 'you are the one I wanted' verse.

Although this is a Valentine card it could easily be changed to an anniversary card if needed.

Peas 1

Peapod of Hearts was stamped onto white cardstock using a Palette pad in Burnt Umber, then colored with Copic markers.  Memory Box Sugardrop papers were used on the card front (card base is Memory Box Sugar Plum) and collaged onto a Vanilla Bean mat.

Sentiment was stamped onto the card front with Palette Burnt Umber and again onto white cardstock using Adirondack Cranberry ink.  A portion of the sentiment in red ink was cut and pieced to the card front.  Matted image was pierced at 1/4" intervals using Tim's ruler, then wrapped with brown linen string.

Peas 2

Glossy Accents was applied to the solo pink heart and allowed to dry.  A few heart blings finished the card.

Peas 4

Card interior - snippets of paper destined for the trash created a mini collage on the card interior.  Hero Arts sentiment.  Happy heart day will be here before we know it!

oh la la lemons

Lemons 8

A recent issue of Paper Crafts featured an article on yellow - yellow seems to be popping up everywhere:  these images are from new Williams-Sonoma, West Elm and Pottery Barn catalogs:

Img58m   Img64m   Img54m

It appears for a time yellow is the new 'it' color - I'm thinking of getting a dozen lemons from the grocery store and placing them in a purrty bowl in my kitchen - maybe I'll be hip then?  hee...

Lemons 1

Karen Lockhart's new Lemons and Bay leaves image is one my faves - ranks up there with her pears.  I opted to change the bay leaves to a red leaf for something different.

Stamped image with Palette pad in Noir on white cardstock, then colored in the leaves with the Copic markers pictured on the left, and the bowl in YG00.

Lemons 2

Lemons were next:  Leaving a highlight on each lemon I used mostly Y000, a bit of Y15 and a smidge of Y19.

Lemons 3

Attacked the bowl next with YG03, and blended the lemons with Y000.

Lemons 4

Finished the bowl with YG95 and blended bowl with Y000.

Lemons 5

Shadows were last:  Shaded the image with BV31, then blended with my custom marker (labeled above as BV31c) of a Copic blender pen with about 24 drops of BV31 Various (refiller) ink.  T3 marker formed a 'grounding' line so the image did not look like it was floating in mid-air.  I only like lemons floating in my ice water. hee...

Lemons 6

Using a scrap of Memory Box Key Lime cardstock, I stamped the Lemons image randomly - this was used on the card interior (two photos down).  The colored image was matted with Key Lime and Licorice Memory Box cardstocks.

Lemons 7

Finished card and envelope.  Key Lime card base, '...thanks a bunch...' sentiment is from Lockhart Stamp Company.  Ribbon is 3/8" Ronee from Strano Designs.

If you wanted to make these limes, I'd stamp the image onto patterned paper to hide the word 'lemons' and cut the bowl out and piece.

Lemons 9

Finished card interior - sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps.

spotted 'shrooms mishie style

Schrooms 6

Spotted mushrooms remind me of wandering in the realm of fantasy and dreams ...Alice in Wonderland... Narnia!

I paired this new mushroom Lockhart image with October Afternoon papers to create two gift boxes, each filled with eight notecards and eight envelopes.  I owe gifts to my Aunt Gloria and my Aunt Linda - two very, very generous aunts - from this past Christmas.

My friend Mishie (Michelle Wooderson) created a fabulous set of 'Simply Stationery' in this post - Mishie has the bestest ideas - and this one tops my favorites list of her incredible creations for gifts that everyone will want... me especially!

Schrooms 2

To achieve a whimsical look I picked some fun colors!  Assembly-line style coloring - IB Mushrooms image was stamped using Palette Noir then quickly colored with Copic markers.  I was yappin' on the phone with my mom while I colored these - I'm such the multi-tasker - hee...

Schrooms 3

One-inch by three-inch strips of October Afternoon Patio Umbrella (stripe) were cut, along with 1-1/4" scallop circles (Marvy punch), 1-3/4" circles (EK Success punch) from OA Freshly Mown Lawn, and the colored mushrooms were punched using a 1-3/8" circle punch (EK Success).

Schrooms 1

Memory Box Robin's Egg Blue cardstock was cut into sixteen 4-1/2" x 6-1/4" rectangles, and white Papertrey Ink cardstock was cut just a hair smaller.  Before adhering them together the white cardstock panels were scored at 1/2" and again at 1-3/4" to create a nice bevel to set off the striped paper.

Schrooms 4

Photo above shows everything assembled.  There were two, layered mushroom circle units remaining, which were used...

Schrooms 5

...on the gift box covers!  The professional gift presentation box was created using a clear transparency and printer, then trimmed to a strip sized to the width of the box lid.  Box is from www.nashvillewraps.com item # SB738).

Adhered trimmed, printed transparency to inside of clear lid using a bit of adhesive (Kokuyo).  Patterned paper (Patio Umbrella) was cut, sized to fit the entire inside lid, then adhered with a bit of Kokuyo adhesive at the corners.  Beaux Regards Gracie ribbon secures the gift box.

fern friends

Fern

Happy Friday!  Today's project is posted on the CLASSroom blog.  Inspiration for the projects are courtesy of the recent Pottery Barn catalog - current merchandise catalogs are typically filled with current and coming trends, colors and color combinations.

Remember to look at the catalogs from an artistic point of view, versus as a consumer - or you'll start re-decorating... hee!

inchie tri-fold cards

Inchie 4

Welcome to Inchie Thursday!  Today I am experimenting with odd-sized cards - these measure 5" x 3-1/2" - to fit inside Inchie Notes envelopes.

Inchie 1

Lockhart Stamp Company Front Porch Flowers were stamped using a Palette Noir pad onto white Inchie Squares, creating an instant embellishment with a wonderful thickness - Inchie Squares are premium, archival matboard one-inch squares (conveniently packaged pre-cut in boxes of 72).  Colored with Copic markers.

To add shine and create a faux-tile embellishment, each colored Inchie Square was pushed into a watermark (Versamark) pad, then dipped into clear embossing powder and heat set.

Inchie 5

Each card base measures 3-1/2" x 10" - score in 2-1/2" from each side to form the card front flaps; left front card flaps were covered with October Afternoon (Rain Boots) paper.  I've used leftover strips of the OA paper to line the envelopes and accent the card interiors.

Inchie 2

Colored Inchie faux tiles were matted with a 1-1/8" square of Rain Boots (floral side) paper, followed by a larger Memory Box Vanilla Bean square.  The back of the Vanilla Bean square was lined with an identical sized square of the Rain Boots paper (polka dot side).

'thanks a bunch' sentiment is from Lockhart Stamp Company.  Card base is Memory Box Sugar Plum - yummy!  Hope your Thursday is filled with beautiful things you enjoy!

love of birds anniversary

 Birds 4

My friends Joy Kennedy and Cami Turnbow, along with Copic guru Marianne Walker, formed a rubber stamp company called Our Craft Lounge - today's post features their 'For the Love of Birds'.

Birds 1

Copic markers were used to color in the two love birds, and I darkened the breast of the right bird to reflect a difference in gender.

Birds 2

Both sides of October Afternoon (Chilly Mornings) paper were used, and the card base is Memory Box Robin's Egg.

Birds 3

The card interior uses more of the images from the Craft Lounge set.  Ribbon is 1/2" olive silk.  I'm using a Valerie Stangle layout from this card of hers

inchie gift card

Inchie bee 4

Today's Inchie Thursday post features a pop-up style gift card that Jennifer McGuire developed - you can view her how-to video here.

Each card begins with a 4" x 12" piece of cardstock or cardstock quality patterned paper.  Finished card size (folded) is 4 x 4" square, then mounted onto a Memory Box Parsley cardstock 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" base.

Inchie bee 1

I started with the Lockhart IB Bee, stamped onto a white Inchie Square using a Palette Noir pad.  Inchie Squares are premium matboard, one-inch square size, fairly thick and a nice weight.

Image was colored quickly with Copic markers.  The wings were colored in with a glue pen, then the Inchie Square was dipped into prisma glitter.  Matted onto a 1-1/4" square of Memory Box Kraft using a pop-up style Glue Dot, then onto a Memory Box Vanilla Bean 1-1/2" cardstock square.

Inchie bee 5

October Afternoon paper is double sided, creating a lovely pattern on the card's interior.  Circle and scallop circle punches, Memory Box Kraft paper, October Afternoon paper, and a thank you stamp (Penny Black) were used to create an interior embellishment - adhered to the center 'gift card pop-up' fold that houses the gift card.

Inchie bee 2

I can see Jennifer's pop-up card also being used to house a wallet sized family photo in place of the gift card, or photos of pets or kids to family members for a clever distribution method than just tucking photos inside a basic card.

Inchie bee 3

Thanks for stopping by on Inchie Thursday! (thanks sentiment on card front:  A Muse).
