the front door

I think my front door says, "a paper crafter lives here'.

One of the many home projects I've done lately is to paint the front door.  I also am de-brassing the entire house - replacing the 90's shiny brass fixtures that were so popular back then with oil-rubbed bronze. It's been fun, and can't wait to do it again in another 15 to 20 years - ha.

Funny thing was, after I painted the front door black, about ten houses nearby did the same.  I loved the black against the brick.  But....things change.

New photo below with new door color; kickplate removed; new doorbell (arriving this week), locks/handle and door knocker.  Paint is Martha Stewart Zinc.

I did not want a black door knocker - just not into the matchy-matchy look. I found a brushed stainless door knocker online (Pottery Barn)...and was originally going to showcase an instagram-style photo of the front of the house, but instead used this:

Door knocker features a twist-off front glass panel.  The front door faces west - let's see how long it takes to fade the art   ...and if more gray doors pop up in the neighborhood! (paper - October Afternoon 9 to 5)

OOH! I really like the black with the brick, then I saw the upgrade - WOW! that door knocker is neat-o. Like the ferns. Your home looks SO inviting. Oh and I am not sure just how much I like you anymore. The card stock is dreamy! It cuts and folds perfectly. I sit and stare at it for minutes at a time trying to decide which color will be this year's Christmas card base. Will stare some more tomorrow and maybe if I choose the same color 2 days in a row, I can order soon. Thanks, Cindy! You're a peach!

Cool door knocker - displaying your artwork makes it real special. I understand changing up the polished brass but I did like the black door - of course the grey door looks good too. Beautiful front entrance.

Love, love the door knocker. It says someone who is artistic lives there. What fun it will be to change it with the Seasons. The gray is striking. I love your ferns too. Today we hit triple digits for the first time this year. I am not impressed. I want my 70's back. It is only supposed to last today and tomorrow. Are you busy with back to school stuff for the kids?
