scraps to tags then tags to goods

From scraps left over after creating a host of projects from a Basic Grey Serenade Kit (only one left in the store) I made these:

stitched on these white tags.

A birthday card for my neighbor Alice, who loves butterflies (Fabriano card base):

Also created a few notebooks - 3x5 spiral bound, 75 lined pages - from Staples (sold in packs of 5) - cut off cardboard notebook cover and neatly housed the spiral-bound pages using covered Bazzill chipboard with various script papers.  A neodymium magnetic is concealed under the embellished tag on the notebook cover, and its mate is hidden in the wool felt flap.  

These measure 3.5 x 5.25 inches finished.  Idea-ology Foliage piece adds decoration to the magnetic wool felt flap.

An interior pocket is always nice.  Magnet mate can be seen on the right; used fabric glue to secure as I didn't want visible stitching.  

To compensate for the lump created by the felt closure at the notebook back, I added additional cardboard shims so the writing surface was comfortable and level.  I like a quality piece.

The neodymium magnets keep these books closed securely.  Opted to use these as they are (1) ridiculously stronger (hence more expensive) than the Basic Grey snaps, and (2) the Basic Grey snaps are on backorder until...gulp....end of next month!  OYE!!

valentine cards

Memory Box dies: LaRue and Grand Hearts, Studio Calico wood word (My Type), Adage Ticket, Doodlebug mini pop rose, 6x6 Lovebirds patterned paper, clear heart from stash.  Standard 4.25 x 5.5 inch finished size.  'bliss' was stained using Fired Brick Distress Stain then smeared with Diamond Stickles.

Although I am not a fan of Valentine's Day between adults; I am, however, a huge fan of the holiday for kids and for their wonderful teachers.  I have been prepping teacher and school staff gifts geared toward the holiday, and have a few cards that were commissioned by neighbors that you see here today.

I did make my wonderful husband a card but can't take a chance that he won't see it here, so it shall remain a secret. ;)

Memory Box grapevine wreath die, Doodlebug pearl heart bling and mini pop; paper is from last year and I used it all up and can't remember the manufacturer...suffering from CRS it appears.

Memory Box Resting Birds (more in stock soon) cut from thin burgundy velveteen, Silverdale and Cupid heart dies, A Muse sentiment.  This paper is the same #$^@ manufacturer that I can't remember...Fabriano card base - hey I remembered that.

Interior uses Memory Box Cream Puff Heart die & A Muse sentiment.

Owl Heart Set - Distress inks used on the tree; I know I'll be using these adorable owls on cards down the road.  Finished size - I think it was 5.25 inches square.

stargazer lilies

Lockhart Stamp Company Stargazer Lilies featured in today's project - the ever-needed birthday card.  Memory Box sentiment, October Afternoon Farm Girl papers.  Decorative edge is a Martha border punch.  Picot-edged ribbon; image was colored with Copic markers after studying these flowers using images online.

Finished card size is 5 x 6 inches, including overhang.  

Glossy Accents used on the vase with a snippet of thin, goldenrod-colored silk ribbon, and Mustard Seed Distress Stickles used for the flower centers.  This is the first I've ever used my stash of the Distress Stickles, other than to create the pretty color chart - ha.  Hope you're having a good start to the week - snow here in New Jersey today!

darling valentine

Memory Box dies (Bingham, Cupid and Silverdale Hearts) were paired with some old Valentine paper from last year.  Smeared Stardust Stickles onto the wood sentiment (Studio Calico, My Type); pink pearls added to the Silverdale die cut and clear bling to the Bingham.  

Pink pearl and clear faceted pins are from Maya Road.

It was a great day at the gym this morning, but then, there is no such thing as a bad day at the gym! Happy Monday!

farm girl butterfly cards

October Afternoon Farm Girl papers, Papertrey Ink kraft cardstock bases.  Finished card sizes:  each 5.5 x 4.25 inches.  A 5mm silver pearl embellishes each butterfly - Memory Box Finn and Delia butterfly dies used.

The clear-lidded box (nashvillewraps.com) that houses six cards and six clear envelopes, so the recipient (and postal carrier!) can view the lovely butterfly.  No matter what quantity of these I bring to the artisan market I sell out.  Last time I attended one lady purchased all four that I brought - and I enjoyed telling her the pretty papers and dies were all made here in the USA.

Layout based on a Shari Carroll card - retired Memory Box and 7gypsies papers; Memory Box Tilda Swirl die.  Vintage mother-of-pearl button with single hole from etsy.  Finished card size is 4.75 x 6 inches including overhang of elements.  Happy Wednesday!

Bella Blvd Birthday Girl papers, Divine Twine, metal rimmed tag.  Finished card size is about five inches square. Tag die is PTI. 

Handmade envelope using same papers.  Hero Arts sentiment.

Notebook was part of the birthday gift ensemble for another friend of youngest daughter.  Letter 'd' was glitterfied using this method.

hot ride & lovebirds

This bicycle is such an elegant die; a few Valentine cards for my local artisan market:  bitty heart bling & sentiment - A Muse.  Memory Box die - new Vintage Bicycle; Peppermint Bazzill Card Shoppe and Fabriano Album card base.

Doodlebug 6x6 papers and Doodle-pops; sentiment - Paper Smooches.  Finished card size:  4.5 inches square.  Memory Box cardstock base in Bayou.  Quote punch is EK Success.

Yes these were fun to do!  Doodlebug Lovebirds stickers are (finally) arriving early next week.  Getting geared up for Valentine teacher gifts here - hope your weekend is going well!

notebook and earrings gift set

October Afternoon Cakewalk gift ensemble - youngest daughter's friend Kayla (hence the initial k) is turning eleven - notebook and earrings pic...

Memory Box Heart Pocket die created the enclosure for a pair of earrings I quickly assembled using a few Swarovski and sterling silver products.  The birthday girl loves the color orange...so I obliged.

Close up of the notebook front.  Finished size of notebook is 5 x 8 inches.  Cute mini pom pom trim in white was machine-stitched into place.

Was a good day at the gym this morning - looking forward to warmer weather though - it was eight (Farenheit) this morning.  Miss being able to run the hills in my area.  

Those that know me know I do not watch television - at all.  This evening I am going to view my first episode of Downton Abbey, thanks to my mother loaning season one and two on dvd to us - everyone says it is a wonderful series.  Happy Friday!
