I fell in love with Kelly Rasmussen's layout and created these cards, but changing the colors, using Modern Homemaker. Card base is Memory Box Gourd; I used English doilies.
These thank you cards using Kelly's design were made for my Aunt Gloria that lives in Florida, as our thank you. Every year at Christmas Aunt Gloria sends our family special and delicious treats in a series of beautiful boxes, and my kids (and the adults - lol) go nuts.

Kitchen (partial) remodel update:

Keeping cabinets and counter tops. I like them. What is changing - first, the island: it is too small, stool seating is not logically placed, and storage within the unit is laid out illogically - dang I sound like Spock.
The desk and fridge wall - you can see a bit of the desk in the lower left corner of the above photo - this wall is next - will detail in another post.
Backsplash is going. And the stove. And dishwasher. And microwave. I rarely use a microwave and want it to disappear.
I had already changed out some of the cabinet hardware when the above photo was taken.
Earlier this month I donned protective goggles from my craft room along with a dust mask and hooked up a tile/mortar Dremel cutting tip from Home Depot to my trusty Dremel, and removed the backsplash myself.
So after the plumber and electrician got through with their tasks, the kitchen now looks like this:

island lacks a counter top...
Bob the Builder, my neighbor, retired engineer and wood artisan, built an island I designed; counter top here this week. Will detail the island later.
Removed the cabinet crown molding, microwave & cabinet above it to make way for the duct/outside venting and hood, and eventually a new cabinet to hide the duct.
This home does not have a big kitchen - so I am not putting in a big range...keeping the same size as the initial owners...who did not cook - they played a lot of tennis...lol. The new stove comes tomorrow - dual fuel - best of both worlds. I love my gas stove but dislike my gas oven. This way I get both.
Kitchen had no proper venting - just a microwave above the stove that recirculated the air. I'm putting a microwave on another wall and hiding it in a cabinet.
The sheetrock survived my attack pretty well, but was cut down to the studs by my plumber - only the nipple for the pot filler above the stove is exposed - I didn't want the actual pot filler in the way when the hood and new backsplash are installed. New sink faucet was installed and beat up framing around window ripped out, along with the plantation shutters. A tall faucet would have prevented the shutters from being able to open - shutter design needs to be a bi-fold style with four panels, not two.
Sheetrock was further ripped up by the electrician for hardwired, under-cabinet task lighting. Lights will go in after the backsplash is tiled.

example of a pot filler.
Joe, a drywall magician who is THE Rock Doctor - lol - is coming tomorrow to work his magic, and the new tile backsplash goes in Thursday. I designed it on graph paper to scale. With the help of pinterest!
This is the focal point tile my dear husband and I selected for the backsplash at the stove, from Charles Tile in Sergeantsville:

When the guys get here with the backsplash tile, I will design the dry run layout for the back of the stove right on the island, and they can install it piece by piece behind the stove right then and there. I have a rough idea of what I want it to look like, so it is just playing around with the materials to get that look. It will be like building a card layout, but with heavier and bigger materials...lol....and will be very, very fun.
Hoping to have this wrapped up by spring. Hoping. Will send more photos after the backsplash goes in. Next we attack the fridge/desk wall. Then it's the master bathroom. lol...Best wishes for a great week!!
