Little furry tailed friend with a cup of hot chocolate!
The branches in the background are a Twiggy Tree diecut, and the papers used are Photo Play Autumn Day, Bazzill Candle (card base) and Bazzill Yam (thin horizontal strip) . Finished card size is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.
Typically I did big events - working with a face painter, or with a face painter and a caricature artist. Lots of work for surrounding township events. A lot of birthday parties. A lot of corporate holiday parties. It was an enormous amount of fun to play an extrovert for a change.
I'd arrive with this:
and get the party started!
As a result of the years of speedily tying knots in latex, and for the last decade and a half of using the heck out of scissors...I had developed arthritis in my right thumb - to the point I couldn't bend it.
I did the cortisone shots...and they worked. For a while.
Cold weather made it worse. Where do I live? Northeast USA.
Good news: my thumb was fixed surgically this past Tuesday - they knocked me out completely for it. I get the stitches out in a few days.
**If you want to see a photo of the tiny sutures currently in my hand it is at the end of this post.**
I didn't want to spring that on you. In case you were eating or something.
I would do this surgery again. I can bend my thumb! Can I get a yay for opposing digits!
Oh and Memory Box / Poppystamps / Open Studio are releasing a bunch of stamps and dies and they will arrive the day after tomorrow - Wednesday! For a quick look-see here's an online catalog of the new release!
If you don't want to see the sutures, don't scroll down. I'll sign off here and wish you many thanks for stopping by!
Can you believe they knocked me out for this? Tiny!
I purchased a small amount of Photo Play 12x12 cardstock packs and 6x6 pads for the store to try them out. Now wishing I had purchased more. Superior cardstock quality, double-sided papers, and made in the USA. Designs are classic and timeless.

This kitty card was so much fun to create - the clear cardstock in the window really makes one a winner for me!
Poppystamps Small Madison Window and Shutter, MFT I Knead You stamps and dies. Kitty images were watercolored with Zig Clean Color markers. Here's the full card front:
Finished card measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches. Here's the card interior:
Few quick photos showing how I created this card - yellow cardstock is Bazzill Sunbeam, light blue card interior is Memory Box Blue Poppy:
I cut two windows, two shutters, and the watercolored kitty die cut holding the ball of yarn is already in place (face down) on top of the clear cardstock.
The window openings in the card base and panel are slightly smaller than the window die cut.
Adhered the panel to the card front, lining up openings. The grass die cut is MFT and cardstock is Bazzill Caramel Apple. If you're asking why I added the panel, it is to give the finished card a feeling of quality due to the weight.
Adhered the window with kitty and clear cardstock to the card front, lining up openings, followed by the shutters.
Adhered second window to card interior, lining up openings.
When the card is closed, the window opening will showcase the handwriting of the sender! Happy weekend!
Finished card size: 5.5 x 4.25 inches; card base is Bazzill textured Powder Blue.
Three layers of Memory Box Fairytale Flower Frame in various Bazzill textured cardstocks, centered around the new Memory Box Gothic Gate in white cardstock. Excellent die for sympathy cards.
Memory Box Gothic Gate die was adhered using rolled lengths of Scor-Tape; large flowers were punched with a small EK Success flower punch and the bitty ones are from (retired) Memory Box Flower Mound. This die combo also works for pet sympathy cards as well. Hope your week is going well!
I leave for a poorly timed family vacation on Friday the 10th - the next day.
You will have a little over 24 hours to order the new product in order for it to leave immediately.
The vacation was planned back in January around my birthday. Next year we're vacationing spur-of-the-moment, far away from the Memory Box release date and not planning ahead in the dead of winter! Happy Summer everyone.
Using a dry paintbrush and gold Perfect Pearls (the only color I ever seem to use), I highlighted the embossed areas, allowing the warm UTEE and excess Distress Embossing Ink to grip the Pearls. This gave the effect of sunshine and a gorgeous glowing aura.
A wash of Distress Vintage Photo formed a base line on a piece of watercolor paper cut to fit the opening, and the lavender stems and cut-up Botanical Stem pieces were assembled and adhered into place using a combination of rolled Scor Tape and Mono Liquid glue.
The three gems are Swarovski flat-backed crystals.
The mat is a piece of Bazzill Heidi. 8x8 frame is from Doodlebug. Thanks for stopping by!
