sympathy card

I utilized this layout inspired by Becca to create today's project.  Quietfire sentiment.

Lockhart Stamp Company Spring Tulips used, and Distress inks (Walnut Stain and Antique Linen) were sponged over die cuts with dies still in place. Spellbinders dies; Zva 2mm pearls; May Arts flower ribbon and Wright's lace (dyed quickly with brewed coffee); Farmhouse patterned paper; Memory Box Thistle cardstock base.  Ink for Lockhart stamp is Color Box Chalk in Prussian Blue (second generation).

Setiment is a discontinued rub-on from MSE.

Finished card size:  5-inches x 7-inches.  Happy Hump Day!

fabric leaf notepads

These were fun to create - lots of different textiles used...burlap from etsy, Bittersweet string, text and fine wale corduroy fabrics from fabric.com.  The Sizzix leaf die is Tattered Leaves. 

The interior features another fabric leaf, whimsically stitched into place, and a stamped sentiment from Quietfire.  This step is actually done first...as the interior stitching leaves the notebook surface looking like this:

...this, however, is concealed with an embellished kraft panel - like a card front mounted onto a card base.

Once the scallop leaf patterned paper and light green gingham check ribbon were stitched to the kraft panel, the burlap and leaf layers were also stitched into place.  The button and bittersweet string were then added.  Then the unit/panel was adhered to the notebook.  I felt stitching these pieces down to a panel first made for a quality piece. 

Mother-of-pearl button from grlyhead on etsy.  Wide gingham ribbon is from May Arts.  Lots of machine stitching on the notebook front.  Patterned leaf paper, lined notepad and 'just a little note' sentiment are from Papertrey Ink.  Tiny text used on 'just a little note' is Memory Box E453 using Walnut Stain Distress ink.  Spellbinders labels die, inked with an ink blending tool with die in place using Antique Linen Distress ink.  I really like the texture on these.

pretty notepads - they feed my soul

As long as I can remember, I have always been in love with pretty stationary, paper, stickers, kewl pens, pencils, and especially notepads.  There's something about being able to make them that feeds my soul.

 

Sizzix bird die, Spellbinders label dies, want2wcrap bling, idea-ology adornments, corners, and a Quietfire verse.  Patterned papers are retired October Afternoon Hometown.  The vertical olive caterpillar (chenile) ribbon is from May Arts and the velvet leaves are 7gypsies. 

I left the Spellbinders label die in place and applied Antique Linen Distress ink using an ink blending tool.

I used a layer of matboard and patterned paper and die cut both, adhered together, then applied Walnut Stain Distress ink to the edges.

The notebook is a simple, eco-friendly compostion one from staples.com.  I love this verse; more notebooks to follow tomorrow.

grunge gears birthday card

Quietfire sentiment - stamped on a piece of white cardstock burnished with Antique Linen and Walnut Ink Distress inks.  Patterned paper is Idea-ology Retro Grunge.  Card base is from Memory Box.

Gadget Gears die from Sizzix - diecuts were cut from white cardstock and inked with Distress inks.  Phillips and flat head style brads source is unknown.

Interior sentiments are from Papertrey Ink.  Best wishes for a great weekend!

5 & dime birthday

Playing with October Afternoon's 5 & Dime collection and a MFT rolled flower die. I've been wanting to try paper pleating since seeing Amy Rohl's Splitcoast tutorial.

Mother of pearl vintage buttons were purchased from grlyhead on etsy.  Paper lace border is a Martha punch, pearls are Zva, and the flower lace is Wrights.  The jumbo metal rimmed tag was highlighted with a punched wagon image from Root Beer Barrels (5 & Dime). 

The cute birthday sentiment is from Quietfire and the ribbon is white seam binding.  Thank you for stopping by today!

lockhart gate - deepest sympathy

For today's project I combined a new Lockhart Stamp Company image called Perfect Berries with Quietfire sympathy sentiments. 

The venise (or Venice) lace was dyed with brewed coffee - I simply poured a half-mug of my husband's cold coffee, submerged a swatch of the lace, removed and blotted on a few paper towels then left to dry a few hours.  Love this effect - in the photo above: before (below) and coffee dyed (above).  A beautiful hue with minimal effort.

I used a mess of Spellbinders dies on this card - I channeled Becca - she influenced my choices for this project!  Most all layers are elevated using foam tape, and the diecuts were inked with Distress Antique Linen ink.  Colored cardstock is Sage, off-white is Parchment, both from Memory Box.

Ink is ColorBox Chalk Olive Pastel.  The ribbon was made using white seam binding and Antique Linen Distress Stain using this technique.  Patterned paper is retired 7gypsies Beacon.

Interior sentiment is Quietfire and the punched paper border is a Spellbinders die.  Love the Lockhart gate on the envelope...thank you for stopping by today and best wishes for a great week!

anniversary card & disney

Ron and I surprised the kids with a trip to Disney World last week for Spring Break, and an escape from our Northeast cold and dreary to warmth and sunshine.  With Abbie being taller than any of the ride height requirements, roller coasters ruled this trip.

Kids are pictured above at Aerosmith's Rockin Rollercoaster, which we rode frequently and often.  As we would wait in line crowds frequently broke into song, singing along with the Aerosmith tunes being piped in through speakers - one time singing I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing, reminding me it's been a while since I've seen Armageddon...lol.

With surprising them with the trip, folks asked us if the kids reacted like the commercials.  I don't watch television at all, so I had to watch them on youtube.  Yes, they were quite excited, but didn't scream, just hugged Ron and I, repeating the words 'thank you!'.  It was a beyond wonderful trip for all and I'm very thankful we could do this for them.

I ran two of the five days we were there on the beautiful jogging trail where we stayed - nothing like the scent of blooming jasmine along a path...and the beautiful sunshine and lush landscaping.

Our wedding anniversary is this month, and above is the card I created for Ron.  It's inspired by an Ingrid Danvers card.  He asked me what I wanted, and I told him "once you pass 20 years gifts are every five years"...  After 20 plus years what the heck do I need, really?

Card interior verse is from Quietfire.

The random alphabet is fabric called April in Paris.  Adhered fabric to iron-on interfacing, then die cut, then adhered (ironed) to a random piece of felt (for height/dimension) that had also been die cut.  Sentiment is from A Muse, ribbon is from May Arts.  Polka dot paper is Cherry Hill and music note patterned paper is EK Success Music Notes.  Brad is from Making Memories, cranberry wool felt flower.  Hope the sun is shining where you are at!

clean & simple #135

Today's project is my take on the clear & simple challenge for this week.  It's been over a half-decade since I did any type of challenge, and I would like to try more of these this year.

Script paper is from 7gypsies, floral (ancient) patterned paper is from K & Co.  Sentiment and edge die are Papertrey Ink.  I broke in the edge die in on this project - amazing what one can unearth when exploring! 

I only used paper and embellishments that were out on the counter, leftover from other projects.  I do like it when the scraps all come together!

Prima tea rose and jute twine. The card base is a retired color from Memory Box.

Damask pattern is from Papertrey Ink, and the lovely sentiment is from Quietfire.  Best wishes for a great week!

pet sympathy

This card was sent to my friend Darthy, who lost her beloved dog, Pebbles, last month.  This is a layout based on this sympathy card from an earlier post.

The lovely metal corners are from Quietfire in Canada, mounted using a Home Pro LR.

The Spellbinders die was airbrushed, then dots added to the die's circles with a white gel pen.  White and taupe pearls and ivory flowers are from Zva.  Patterned cardstock is Webster's Pages.

Sentiments are discontinued MSE! rub-ons, of which I wish they would reconsider and produce again.

My sympathies and my heart go out to you, Darthy.

quietfire - letters by the thousands

I fell in love with this verse from Quietfire Designs, and used it for some thank you cards I needed to create and send.

October Afternoon's Thrift Shop was combined with Memory Box Robin's Egg cardstock, and I used Mish Wooderson's large tags for the base/focal point.

The tag was stamped with an image from Our Craft Lounge from the Vintage Traveler set.

The pen nib, clock button and jewelry tag are from my stash. The jewelry tag is from Staples, and was dipped into a walnut ink solution then heat set with a heat gun. The stained petite jewelry tags are available in the store here.

 

The trinket pins were poked through the silk ribbon and tag, then secured to the tag back - I love this  style of pin, but for some reason I'm not so crazy about the pointy end of a pin being on a card front...maybe it is from all the quilting and sewing I've done over the years and how I really, really dislike getting my fingers poked!  Ha!
