This card is for my husband's brother-in-law - Donald is a great guy - he served our country and was stationed at Pearl Harbor for a while - he is an amazing husband, dad, uncle and grandfather. I don't think I have ever seen him mad or say anything bad about anyone - positive attitude he has for sure!
I found the metal hardware used on this card at my local Wal-Mart - in the sports department - specifically...in the fishing aisle. I'm sure this swivel-type-embellishment has some nifty function but seriously, I don't fish but truly admire those that know how to. I remember fishing with my Pop-Pop when I was little but we used a simple hook, sinker and a bobber - so I can't tell you this embellishment's real function, only that I was looking for a basketball when I spied them! :-D
After I spied these, I remembered my friend Keri years and years ago traveled through many states to visit her family that coincidentally lives near me, and used one of these on the cover of a notebook gift she gave me!
A note about storage: I emptied the fishing hardware-swivel-thinggies into a glass-lidded watchmaker's tin (leevalleytools.com). That way I can see them easily - the really say 'man card!' to me.
These swivel embellishments go nicely with the Lockhart Fishing Vest!!
The fishing vest was stamped with Palette Noir onto white cardstock, nipped the corners w/a corner punch, then adhered to a black cardstock mat. Colored in with Copic markers.
The neato fishy patterned paper (Karen Foster) I found at a Wisconsin Archivers last August. We do not have Archivers in New Jersey or anywhere near driving distance near New Jersey.
If I found Aladdin's lamp and had three wishes one wish would be for an Archivers within an hour driving distance from my house. Or two hours.
Seriously! My friend Lana Lepinski drives me to her Archivers when I visit Wisconsin. I love those trips - and envy those of you who have a LSS near you geared toward the paper crafter and stamper.
Memory Box cardstock in Dill was used as the card base - fits a standard #10 business size envelope. You can find the upgraded version of a #10 envelope at clearbags.com. Nice rounded flap on the short side of the envie.
Thank you for stopping by - an inchie post is next! Best wishes to your loved ones for a happy Father's Day ~
