Today's card features a thick matboard Inchie Square stamped using Lockhart's IB Front Porch Flowers.  Image was colored using markers.

Happy Birthday sentiment is from A Muse.  There is a fine line of a glitter frame around the Inchie square created with a Stardust glitter pen.

secrets ATC swap

Today's post is quick - I'm off to a field trip with my son's third grade class.

This is my Artist Trading Card (ATC) swap my good friend Stevie is having.  For those unfamiliar with an ATC they are tiny - 2-1/2" x 3-1/2".

'secrets' was computer generated; all edges were sponged playfully with Tim's Antique Linen and/or Vintage Photo Distress inks.  I really wanted to put a flower under the mica - kinda like a 'sub rosa' thang but it just didn't work....

JulieHRR layout and giving credit

Today's post uses a JulieHRR layout from her World Cardmaking Day layout.  I loved the layers in Julie's layout and could not wait to try it.

The decorative paper used is Webster's Pages Raspberry Truffle, with their gorgeous coordinating trims (just arrived!).  Card interior uses Hero Arts images and some extra paper snippets.  Finished size:  4-1/2" x 6-1/4".

I have been asked, "OK so you make a card with someone else's layout.  You send it.  The person that receives it makes one with that layout and tells the world it is your layout.  What then?"

This boils down to giving credit.  I keep a book (my notebookie) with a ton of card sketch layouts and ideas.  If the layout/idea is not mine I write below the sketch whose idea it is.  That way, when I use the layout I know whom to credit in the blog post.

For the actual card such as the one with this post, on the back above my signature, I add 'a JulieHRR layout'.  This informs the receiver of the card that I am not a genius, but rather Julie is.

water bottle tags

This concept is adapted from Nancy Taylor's post on the Hero Arts blog.  Hero Arts School Animals images were used on metal-rimmed tags from Staples. 

Images were colored in using markers, then covered front and back of the tag with a thin layer of Microglaze.  Microglaze resists water and fingerprints, but you won't know it's there.    Made in the USA by JudiKins.

I made these out of desperation.  With three kids, they open a bottle of water and leave it out, then claim it is not theirs.  Times THREE!!  Times FIVE TIMES A DAY!!  I'm tired of the waste.  This eliminates that and has worked very well...for the past eleven days at least... 

Hairbands are from Wal-Mart, and finished tags were quickly wired into place.  The bands are sturdy and stretchy enough to go around the bottle's middle, so the tag doesn't smack you in the face when you're trying to take a drink.

It's Inchie Thursday!  In today's post we will decorate cupcakes!  When I think of cupcakes I can't help think of Bakerella!!

Lockhart Itty Bitty Cupcake was stamped onto White Inchie squares - these are museum quality. archival chipboard 1" squares from Inchie Arts - then colored with markers (not the cherry or icing though!) and matted onto Licorice (black) 1-1/4" cardstock squares.

Next I used patterned cardstock from Webster's Pages Raspberry Truffle and a round tab (McGill) punch.  Added bling to the round tab punch, then applied white fabric puffy paint (Tulip - from any craft store) to the cupcake icing and zapped it with a heat tool.

Card bases are beautiful, assorted 3-1/2" square notecards (with envelopes!) from Inchie Arts.  'It's Time to Celebrate' sentiment is from Rosie's Roadshow and interior sentiments are Stampin' Up and Lockhart's 'happy cupcake day'.  The envelopes with the Inchie Notes are 5" long, so you can opt to add embellishments onto one side of the card.

Tuesday thank you

I could not stop with yesterday's thank you card, so I made another!  Today's post uses the new Nonsense Whiteout line from We R Memory Keepers!  The coordinating ribbon selection is incredible:

To create the card base above, I followed something I saw in a Jennifer McGuire video, and she ran a cardstock (one side white, one side color) layer through the Cuttlebug, then sanded the colored side.  Fabulous effect!  The focal image are just coordinating acrylic stickers from this line.  'thank you' sentiment is from A Muse.  Funky & fun paperclip accent is from Target.  I loooooove Target....

Here's the card inside (sentiment - Stampin' Up) with a few scrap strips of the paper and another acrylic flower.

It's a scrappy Monday! So what is your favorite card to make?  Mine is thank yous, and best of all, I made this card from scraps left over on my worktable.

Daisy flower was punched once from leftover Cuttlebug embossed ivory cardstock, and again from 7gypsies Louis paper.  Stitched button and adhered with a glue dot.

Card base is Vanilla Bean (Memory Box) and layered with a Martha Stewart lace punch layer, followed by more Louis (Classic collection) paper and Victoria (Nottinghill Collection).  'thank you very much' sentiment is from Hero Arts, and the burgundy leaf ribbon is new from May Arts.

a FAN-tastic day!

Hope you are having a FAN-tastic day too!  Today's post features a simple card and a quick way to use up ribbon scraps.

This idea is from my friend Michelle Wooderson.  Michelle sent me a birthday card many months ago and she stitched a couple of ribbon swatches onto one of the card layers - brilliant!  (I looked on her blog and this is the card she sent me!)

A tip:  use temporary adhesive under the ribbons on the front - don't adhere the ribbon to the back of the cardstock layer just yet.  Go ahead and stitch the ribbon to the cardstock layer, then adhere to the back.  This way, one can adjust the ribbon should the ribbons shift up or down slightly during the stitching process.

Lockhart Stamp Company Fan was stamped in Palette Noir and colored in quickly with markers (or colored pencils).  Card base is Memory Box Key Lime.  Finished card size:  6-1/4" x 4-1/2".  I like this bigger size card, and the nice amount of white space!
