Thanks to everyone and we'll do this again!!
Outside it is a spectrum of autumn colors here in central NJ and I hope to share pics from the gorgeous leaves here later this week. Airbrushing takes center stage for today's post!
I received a gorgeous card from my friend Kathy in Bainbridge Island using this Lockhart Potions & Spells image, and decided to finish my Halloween cards to family using it, and use Kathy's idea of da faboo glittah...
Here, Halloween cards are sent to family every year as an excuse to enclose the kids' school photos that arrive around this time of year.
A Nestabilities rectangle was cut from then embossed on ivory cardstock. Stamped the potions image then masked it. To mask, simply stamp image onto Eclipse paper (or a post-it note), cut out and remove backing, then adhere over stamped image. You can color your image first or color it afterward - it's up to you.
For this image, I used post-it notes and shielded the embossed lip of the rectangle. This pic shows the stamped image with the mask in place. I'm getting ready to airbrush the image here with a light grey Copic C1.
After using C1 I switched to a darker grey - T3. With the T3 I worked it into the darker recesses of the image. Here's what the images look like after hitting 'em with the T3:
Purtty spooooooky lookin'!
Here's a pic showing how I store the airbrush compressor that Ellen carries. It sits in a deep plastic drawer right near my stamping area, and I created a hole in the back of the drawer for the electric cord. Nice & neat. I can kill power to the electrical outlet this sucker is plugged into with a wall switch. Yes I'm a worrier...it's inherited (hi Mom!).
Next I colored in the image and used a trusty 'ole modified Val Stangle layout. My friend Kathy's card used glitter for the 'magic dust', and instead of adding it to the crystal ball like she did I swirled some pale purple marker and a gold & clear Spica markers (you'll need to click the top/first photo for a close up to see), then covered it with a clear flat bubble accent. I know some famiy members will get a kick outta this!
