I'm in charge of the craft for my third grader's Halloween party at school this year. I love doing this type of stuff, and I came up with this idea in the shower...beauty was I had all the supplies on hand and didn't have to purchase anything.
I came up with the idea of a decorative pumpkin, incorporating a recycled bottle.
I drink about two of these a day. Delish. So I've collected one, cleaned bottle and cap for each student, but you could use just about any clear, plastic bottle, along with these materials:
One each per bottle: 4-1/4" X 5" piece of clear cardstock (Papertrey Ink), stamped tag, approx 7" square lime tissue paper, black pipecleaner, various templates in case students do not want to draw a face freehand, and Sharpie markers. Not shown: orange crinkle cut shred (nashvillewraps.com)
The student would draw a face onto the clear cardstock piece, then roll it up and insert into the plastic bottle. It unrolls and lies flush against the inside of the plastic bottle. Then insert the orange shred.
No dry time. And the sharpie is protected cuz it's on the bottle inside. Yay! Perfect for this age group.
Screw the cap into place, then tie the pre-stamped (to save them time I used two of Papertrey's Halloween sets) tag around the cap and some pre-strung tags from Staples.
Fold the 7" square of lime tissue in half, then in half again, and cover the cap. Twist black pipecleaner around tissue, then curl each end around a pencil. Done!
