...of CK, or Creating Keepsakes Magazine, until I got an unsolicited DVD in the mail over the weekend.
I'd purchase the magazine at Borders once in a while if something caught my eye. Never again.
I haven't subscribed to this magazine in more than a half-decade. I'm sure they have made a few dollars from selling my name and information. Hey - that's OK; I never told them not to, but to send me a DVD, not at my request, well it's in violation of a certain NJ state statute and technically against the law.
So I can return it at their expense, or keep it and pay a nominal fee. And they'll send me more if I opt for the latter. Um, no thanks.
As a precautionary measure to prevent this from happening again, I called the 800 number and (politely) asked for my name, address and all personal information be removed from their database and any affiliates' databases, and to refrain from selling any information to any other firms including affiliates. See? I can be nice. I will return it.
Inscribed with Title 46 of the NJ State Statutes.
Maybe the return postage from folks returning these DVD's will outweigh any profit made from this fiasco? Did they genuinely not have any idea this was against the law?
Or, does the profit made indeed outweigh any backlash? I wonder.
