These were made for the wonderful folks I had dinner with one awesome night while at CHA - Daisy Sparks, Sherry Cheever, and my dear friends Bevie and Sam, whom I only get to see when in Chicago.
I made a fifth one for myself to use and brought A World on Fire to read while away. It's a decent sized read - hardcover weighs around 3.5 pounds - no I do not want a Kindle-like device - I like 'real' books...and a mini arm workout schlepping the thing with my lone carry-on.
I covered a piece of chipboard measuring 3" x 8-1/2" with 7gypsies script paper cut a bit larger, then snipped the corners and neatly folded to the front - the script paper is for the back.
Front of bookmark is patterned paper from Graphic 45, Licorice (Memory Box) cardstock cut with a Spellbinders die, Paper Rosette (and more 7gypsies script paper) is from Sizzix, ornate pearl tassles, bottle cap and epoxy dome, PTI stamp (All Booked Up) and mulberry rose leaves. The tassel is wired into place by installing a large eyelet in the bookmark base, using 24 gauge wire and this technique.
CHA in Chicago - was able to do two make and takes - Ranger's and Advantus'. Fun times, but then I love Chicago. This display, and my love and frequent use of Distress Stains convinced me to carry them in the store. They arrive next week. Best wishes for a happy weekend!
