Here is a peek into a remodel project. My two daughters share a bathroom, which is accessed through their bedrooms only - not the hallway. This type of bathroom is called a 'Jack and Jill' bath.
The bathroom is split into a double sink area with small closet, and a separate room that houses the toilet and tub/shower and a window above the toilet.
The oldest likes to soak in a tub, so I needed to replace it, and did not rip it out and put in a shower. I did not move any walls so for me this was not a major remodel. Before photos:
Door going from oldest daughter's bedroom into bathroom. There were too many doors for this compact bathroom. My contractor informed me there was sadly not enough room for a pocket door - I ended up with really nice custom doors that solved this issue.
The door at the end of the bathroom leads into the other daughter's bedroom.
The bathroom consisted of two sinks, a skinny closet that was so skinny it was useless, and another room that housed the toilet and tub.
Dated 1990's lighting and sinks. Difficult storage for two almost adult/teen girls. Issue with subtle water damage where countertop meets sheetrock. I solved that too.
This lack of attention bothered me to no end: a sliver of tile too small behind the switch plate. Ugh. Builder grade house.
Toilet paper positioned too low and without any thought to the user.
Lots of yuck. Subtle water damage issue to baseboard molding. I fixed that too.
I'm standing in the youngest daughter's bedroom looking into the bathroom. Like I said - too many doors in the compact space.
Okay now for the after photos - mostly the same angles
Standing in oldest daughter's bedroom - custom narrow French double door with rain privacy glass. New paint color in bedroom is Benjamin Moore Gray Owl. That color is pretty much throughout most rooms in the house now.
Looking through the bathroom into the youngest daughter's bedroom. New carpet in bedrooms. Same paint (Benjamin Moore Intense White), floor tile, wall tile, and so forth, as used in the bathroom below this one in this post.

I removed the poorly designed, useless skinny closet and expanded the vanity, adding a center tower, and lapping the room in crown molding.
Solved the water issue on the sides of the countertop by adding tile. Solved makeup and fingerprints on sheetrock issue near light switches by adding wall tile. Wall tile start line was dictated by height of the switch plates.
Standing in room that houses the toilet and tub/shower for this photo. Note my addition of a slab of the quartz countertop at the base of the center cabinet tower - this will avoid any water issue touching the wood. CZ Tops did a beautiful job of transferring the contour of the cabinetry.
Moen medicine cabinets with adjustable shelves and movable 3X mirror.
The new outlets by the sinks incorporate an adjustable nightlight. Drawers with organizers within corral hair accessories, makeup and so forth.
Great light fixture, which adds another layer of lighting to the room.
Since both girls are in the medical realm, I thought a nod to the industry would be appropriate with this style of shower curtain. It is a quick change out to swap with a clean one and throw the dirty one in the wash. Tub is meant for soaking. I pretty much wrapped the room in tile.
I moved the switch plate that was so poorly placed before to outside the room, and added a timer for the fan. Layered lighting in this room as well.
Toilet is a Toto. No baseboards by design.
I crocheted a machine washable floor rug to add texture. New floor vent is beautiful and easy to clean. I installed a fine screen under this metal vent cover to catch anything (earring backs!) that might find its way there.
New niche in shower that will hopefully hold everything the girls need in the shower. Again these same materials - 24x12 tile, the 2x1 carrara marble, marble pencil tile, Grohe shower system, were used in the first floor bath remodel located directly below this bathroom.
Adjustable Grohe hand-held shower head also with rainfall option.
Another photo of the great niche and tile job in the shower. Hope you enjoyed the tour - my son's bathroom was next, and the master bathroom is currently underway.
