Spooky days ahead! Memory Box dies: Manor House, Grassland Border, Ghastly Ghosts and Bare Sapling.

Doodlebug Halloween Parade papers used, along with Memory Box Gourd, Dove, Vanilla Bean and Black Licorice cardstocks.  

Hoping we have a Halloween this year - with Hurricane Sandy last year (no power for the week) and a freak snowstorm in 2011...keeping our fingers crossed it happens!

On a personal note, I opted out of running the 10 miler - simply could not devote the time needed to run the mileage needed per week to run this type of race.  Kickboxing I LOVE - gave me the dents in my obliques.  5K turkey trot this year is a go!  Still want to do a color run...  Anyone gone Paleo?

Memory Box dies: LaRue and Grand Hearts, Studio Calico wood word (My Type), Adage Ticket, Doodlebug mini pop rose, 6x6 Lovebirds patterned paper, clear heart from stash.  Standard 4.25 x 5.5 inch finished size.  'bliss' was stained using Fired Brick Distress Stain then smeared with Diamond Stickles.

Although I am not a fan of Valentine's Day between adults; I am, however, a huge fan of the holiday for kids and for their wonderful teachers.  I have been prepping teacher and school staff gifts geared toward the holiday, and have a few cards that were commissioned by neighbors that you see here today.

I did make my wonderful husband a card but can't take a chance that he won't see it here, so it shall remain a secret. ;)

Memory Box grapevine wreath die, Doodlebug pearl heart bling and mini pop; paper is from last year and I used it all up and can't remember the manufacturer...suffering from CRS it appears.

Memory Box Resting Birds (more in stock soon) cut from thin burgundy velveteen, Silverdale and Cupid heart dies, A Muse sentiment.  This paper is the same #$^@ manufacturer that I can't remember...Fabriano card base - hey I remembered that.

Interior uses Memory Box Cream Puff Heart die & A Muse sentiment.

Owl Heart Set - Distress inks used on the tree; I know I'll be using these adorable owls on cards down the road.  Finished size - I think it was 5.25 inches square.

Memory Box dies (Bingham, Cupid and Silverdale Hearts) were paired with some old Valentine paper from last year.  Smeared Stardust Stickles onto the wood sentiment (Studio Calico, My Type); pink pearls added to the Silverdale die cut and clear bling to the Bingham.  

Pink pearl and clear faceted pins are from Maya Road.

It was a great day at the gym this morning, but then, there is no such thing as a bad day at the gym! Happy Monday!

Memory Box dies (Petite Umbrella, A Little Rain) used on a Fabriano square card base.  Finished size: 4.5 inches square.  Punched hearts (Marvy) are from Memory Box cardstocks:  cotton candy, bubblegum and currant.

Umbrella was die cut from Bazzill Candy Bar (Card Shoppe) and October Afternoon's Farm Girl (Milk Pail) - lining the umbrella with a darker cardstock makes those seams in the umbrella visually pop.  Background patterned cardstock is October Afternoon Thrift Shop (Collector's Item).  Best wishes for a great weekend!

The last share about our holiday that never was...

Doodlebug products; design utilized from one of their blog posts.  Butcher's Twine (the new solid colors are in), computer-generated sentiment.  

Halloween cards to me are a method to transport school photos of the kiddos to family that live far away.

The holiday consisted of sitting by the fire, no electricity, and me re-reading Clive Cussler's Atlantis Found.  

Very eerie not to have the front doorbell forever ringing, laughter, excited talking and shouts from throngs of children outside... instead, a dead quiet (and very dark) neighborhood.  

Hope your Halloween was great - we're going to have an extra-special Thanksgiving this year for sure.

With our outage from Superstorm Sandy I did not get to share kids' Halloween treats for their teachers. It's all Doodlebug.  Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Squares with Sea Salt and Caramel.

Printable stickers from Creature Comforts blog - simply printed onto 8.5 x 11 sticker sheet and cut apart - adhered onto Tic-Tacs.

During the outage, I'd like to thank CW-X for keeping my body warm - I wore their cold-weather running gear during the outage, but alas, did no running. ha.

Our electricity has thankfully returned here in Hunterdon County - so many  nearby are still without power.  

The JCP&L technicians are working around the clock and are all over the county - replacing snapped poles and an incredible amount of downed wires.  When we had to venture out for supplies I witnessed them working tirelessly.  I know more electricity is on its way to those affected; I am hoping for speed in arrival - it is snowing today and very, very cold.    Best wishes for a warm rest of the week!

door knocker - halloween insert

Still loving the gray front door.  Today's project was inspired by Danni Reid.  Door knocker insert is about 4.5 inches in diameter - uses Witch Hazel components.  Happy Thursday!

thank you snow much

My dear children are in the process of writing their holiday thank you notes to aunts, uncles and dear friends - three individual notes per recipient...I wanted to come up with something clever to house their notes in.

Using Paper Smooches Swanky Snowdudes set, a snowman image was stamped several times onto white cardstock, each colored with Copics then each cut out.  Sentiment is from the Chit Chat set.  The label-style die is from Papertrey Ink.

Using a notebook paper bag I folded down the top two inches, then covered the flap with patterned paper and trimmed. 

A Big Bite tool punched the holes and set the eyelets for the clasp. Fine red burlap string was inserted through one of the punched holes prior to setting the eyelet to hold the string in place.

The notecards for the kids' thank yous are simply white cardstock trimmed to fit the bag, embellished with a strip of Holly Jolly patterned paper and a quote strip from the Holiday Style Word Stickers.  I may add black Enamel Accents (Ranger) to his buttons - we'll see how much time allows...hope you're having a great weekend!

holiday tags & ink pad organization

Before putting all the papers used for holiday gifts & such I gathered all scraps, and Mish-style assembled them quickly into tags.  Adhered each layer with a smidge of 2-way glue and allowed to dry, then machine-stitched down the center of all layers chain-piecing style.

I'll put the holiday stuff away now...lol.

I posted this on Ranger's Facebook wall today - Ranger's is looking for organizational ideas for their products, and I had this created by a local woodworker/artisan to easily access each Distress ink pad, blending tool and reinker.  If I like a product I'll naturally want to use it frequently, so speed in access and visibility is important to me.
